We understand that many of our customers want to be sure they regularly disinfect their interactive board as well as other classroom and business equipment. Our user manuals outline general maintenance guidelines but we have received requests in the past week on clarification for cleaning recommendations.

Below are steps for cleaning products following the latest CDC guidelines. Our team is available If you have any questions on your panel or how to clean your Smart Board or Panel product and are happy to discuss any specific questions. You can contact service at 701-483-7075 or reach us via online chat or support ticket.

We recommend following the CDC’s guide to proper cleaning. According to the latest post from the CDC regarding types of products:  “For disinfection, diluted household bleach solutions, alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol, and most common EPA-registered household disinfectants should be effective (CDC website, March 19, 2020)”

An additional list of recommended cleaning products can be found by clicking here.

NOTE – Be careful to NOT mix certain cleaning products, such as Hydrogen Peroxide and Vinegar, as this mixture can create a corrosive substance. Follow the cleaner manufacturer’s guide to safe handling and ventilation etc.

Again, follow CDC, government and health professional guidelines when cleaning and please stay up to date on the latest recommendations. Below are some practical pieces of advice, when cleaning:

  • Please unplug the power plug before cleaning and maintenance, to prevent electric shock.
  • We normally recommend dish or tableware detergent mixed with rubbing alcohol, but again, be sure you are meeting CDC mixture recommendations. Traditional household cleaning products (Clorox wipes, Lysol, disinfectant sprays, and mild surface cleaners) are safe to use with our panels.
  • Do NOT spray cleaning solutions directly onto the panel or the board.  Liquid sprays can be used to lightly dampen a microfiber or lint-free cloth, which can then be used to safely wipe down the display.
  • Try to not allow cleaning solutions to drip into crevices/gaps such as buttons or speakers, into the IR frame, or ventilations and do not submerge electrical products. Use as little cleaning products as necessary and do not allow the solution to stream down or otherwise inundated equipment.
  • Wear disposable gloves when cleaning and disinfecting your panel or stand.
  • Gloves should be discarded after each cleaning.
  • Wash hands immediately after gloves are removed.

Some general notes on hygiene to prevent spreading germs as recommended by the CDC:

In every work place, all staff should clean hands often, including immediately after removing gloves and after contact with an ill person, by washing hands with soap and water for 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available and hands are not visibly dirty, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol may be used. However, if hands are visibly dirty, always wash hands with soap and water.

Additional key times to clean hands include:

  • After blowing one’s nose, coughing, or sneezing
  • After using the restroom
  • Before eating or preparing food
  • After contact with animals or pets
  • Before and after providing routine care for another person who needs assistance (e.g. a child)

Our team members are here to address any concerns or questions you may have at this time.
